Robots · New York City

What is the Bolt camera, and how do I rent one in NYC?

People say "Bolt camera" for the shot and "Bolt" for the machine, and both mean the same thing: the MRMC Bolt, a high-speed robot arm that carries a cinema camera (a RED, an ARRI Alexa or our Phantom Flex4K) and whips it past a subject in half a second, then repeats the move to the frame. It is not a camera brand. We rent the Bolt camera robot in New York with our own operator and technician, from $6,930 all-in per shoot day.

What the Bolt camera shot looks like: the camera flies past a product, a face or a guest and stops dead, so the background streaks and the subject stays sharp. With the Phantom at 1,000 frames per second the same move becomes the red-carpet glambot. With a normal cinema camera it is the beverage pour, the tabletop whip, the multipass composite with one actor in many places.

What goes on it: any camera package under 44 lb with lens motors and wireless video. You bring the camera or we supply the Phantom or a RED body; the robot does not care which.

How to book it: tell us the dates, the location and the shot, and we send one number with the operator, the technician, the track and the truck in it. Everything on the Bolt pages and the rate card is the same price.

Rates as of October 2026, US dollars, per 10-hour crew day. The signed booking agreement governs.
